There are many coffee shops to choose from in the petite town of Athens, Ohio, but only a few provide frozen custard you can't find anywhere else! Being on the most popular road known to Athens, its prime location makes it a go to stop for anyone looking for coffee, frozen custard, or just food in general. Upon entering the shop there are couches and lounge chairs that invite you in and make you feel comfortable and relaxed as you start your morning, or before you head to class. With the location comes visitors of all kinds such as students of Ohio University, teachers, and the citizens of Athens. The design inside makes me feel as if I'm in the comfort of my living room, with the exception of people willing to serve me whenever I please. The clean environment and the free Wi-Fi allows students to stop by and browse the web, do homework, and just hang out.
The first Whit's was opened on March 3, 2003 in Granville, Ohio. Frozen custard was unknown to the inhabitants of Granville that they never thought it would thrive and expand the way it has; however against all odds, Whit's expanded to be a grandiose business that has made quite the impact on Athens that can't be denied.
The things that makes Whit's unique is the fact that it doesn't only serve coffee, it also provides comforts such as frozen custard, sundae's and foods of all sorts. The names of the specialties include Bobcat, the mascot of our university, grasshopper, to fit the organic aspect of our campus and the liveliness that inhabits it, and Buckeye Madness, fitting to our state. Its not just ordinary vanilla, chocolate, etc, its a name indigenous just to the Whit's enterprise. With the prices accommodating the average wealth of a broke college student, it's quality and affordability truly live up to a college hangout.
Walking around court street you can find many restaurants and little shops that provide what you need but Whit's is one of a kind when it comes to what it can provide. Whether you're here to escape from the hectic life of being a Bobcat, or you're trying to get over the hangover you got from the night before, Whit's is the place to escape, sit back, and watch the students of Athens as they walk to class.
