The Café by Jeff Siefker and Kelly Gallagher

The Café in the Alden library is similar to the dining halls of Ohio University. It is brightly lite and is kind of noisy compared to the rest of the library. It is designed this way so that students are able to get away from the quietness of the rest of the Alden Library were they have a place to relax, eat, stay energized but also converse with others. It resembles the dining halls because it is painted similarly, and it offers food and drinks like coffee just like how we get our food from the dining halls. There are booths so people can sit comfortably. The café offers sandwiches, desserts, candy, caffeinated drinks, tea and even drinks from a vending machine. This café has all that a coffee shop could have to offer in a library!
The Café is a change of pace from the rest of the library because people can talk here, and are free to listen to music without getting glares from everyone else studying without a noise trying to cramp everything into their brains. The customers are kids who are studying or even taking a break from studying to relax and take a second to feed their stomachs and energize themselves. One customer was a little kid in a colts shirt getting a drink from the vending machine…maybe he managed to skip a few grades to make it to college early. Other customers are people  who are “trying to pull out a paper before work” as she told one friend and people that are sharing notes, using their laptops with beats by drake headphones and others who are just studying or browsing the web will eating and drinking something.
The Café in Alden Library is the closest coffee shop to the library (its actually right in the library) so it has easy access to caffeine making it so that the students are more likely to come to the Café instead of walking out the doors to across the street to Baker or to Court Street for a cup of coffee. This is noticeable because you see the people walking from the computers and tables in the next room right to the door of the Café looking for something to caffeinate themselves with so they can keep on studying. This coffee shop shows that the whole student body likes caffeinated beverages and snacks for a nice a break from studying. If you are ever at the library you should check out the Café and come and take a break from quiteness to do whatever you please and to grab some caffeine and food to keep on going with studying!
