The Front Room Coffeehouse is located on the
fourth floor of Baker. It includes a
reduced Starbucks menu that accepts flex points and bobcat cash. The shop has a wide range of seating
including high chairs, small tables and even couches with coffee tables. The couches and chairs surround a fireplace
and a stage. This stage is used for
small performances and entertainment that is appealing to the coffee shop
crowd. The shop is designed this way
because it makes it appealing to all types of people. The crowd in this coffee shop ranges from
groups of students working on a project to an old Athens man reading the
newspaper. They range from loud and boisterous to the quiet individuals in the
corner studying chemistry and observing the surroundings (that’s us).
No matter what they crowd, it is appealing to everyone!
This shop fulfills multiple needs for the
community. It obviously fills the need
of coffee; however, Athens has many coffee shops. What makes The Front Room unique is that it
is located in the Baker Center. The
Baker Center is virtually the gateway to West campus as everyone walks through
it to get to the other end of campus.
This makes Front Room in an ideal location. We personally are not coffee fans, yet we both occasionally
come to Front Room and enjoy a White Chocolate mocha or caramel latte. The coffee shop fills the need of a nice
place in Baker where students can come hangout in a relaxed environment in the
heart of campus. It gives students a
chance to step away from their studies and take a break, or gives students a
place to study and interact with people at the same time. The vibrant personalities and popularity of
Front Room show that it fulfills its purpose to the community.
This shop helps define Athens as the college town
it is. Coffee Shops are always prevalent
on college campuses and Athens has many of them. Front Room shows that Athens is a continuously growing college community. It is a
school that prides in successful academics and gives students multiple places
and resources to do so. Front Room is
one of many coffee shops that allow students to work on their studies or just
take a break and enjoy a beautiful day in Athens!
