Strouds Run

Taking Strides at Strouds

I am guessing when many of you think of Athens it is thought of as the party seen or the University in this town.  Maybe you even think of the beauty and how the landscape really makes this campus weather it is in trees surrounding the campus or the giant hills that we have to endure the walk up every once in awhile.  Well the beauty is the main thing I see about this campus.  It is the main reason why I choose this school.  Rain or shine this campus shines.  Well I bet none of you know about or have visited Strouds run which is just right outside campus grounds.  This part of Athens Ohio truly shows how beautiful it is and can be.  Strouds run is a little lake that has a beach area and even a place to cook out and bring many friends to hang out.  This topic came to me when I heard one of my friends talking about the tradition when springs warmer weather comes around for everyone to go out there and enjoy the sun, beach and lake water.  The tradition although does not extend to everyone it is a tradition to many because it is almost like a beach so close to home.  This is apart of history to me because this has been a part of Athens for a long time and the tradition of students going out there for a break will last for as long as it is there.  Among going to the beach here there is so many things to be offered at Strouds Run such as hiking, boating, camping and even fishing.  Although this is not written in any books stating how this is a history of Athens it is a tradition to those who know Athens for what it truly is.
